The theme of this year’s Home Tour is Mission to Modern 1900 – 1940s and will feature homes that contain architectural design influences that embody the characteristics that later became known as Modernism. The Tour will highlight examples of Claremont’s exceptional and varied residential architecture including Arts & Crafts, Craftsman, Neo-Georgian, Spanish Revival and International Styles. A total of six homes will be on the tour - Check-in is at the historic Garner House in Memorial Park where the Claremont Heritage office is located. Saturday, Oct. 10 • 1:30-3:00 Claremont Heritage is proud to participate in the 2015 DOCOMOMO Tour Day on Saturday, October 10th. As part of our Home Tour Weekend, we will present a guided architectural walking tour of Historic Rte 66 including Institutional and Commercial Architecture by noted designers and architects such as Millard Sheets, Edward Durell Stone, Criley & McDowell, Pereira & Luckman. The tour will start on the Campus of Harvey Mudd Campus - Meet in front of the Shanahan Center (south side) 260 E. Foothill Blvd, Claremont, CA 91711 at 1:30. Parking is available on Foothill Blvd or Platt Blvd between Dartmouth and Mills Ave. From the very beginning, Claremont and the Claremont Colleges have enjoyed buildings and master plans developed by some of the leading architects of their day. TOUR GOERS will also receive a self-guided map of mid-century modern architecture in Claremont. |
